This system based on a mobile robot for the safety inspection of wheelsets and axles installed in light maintenance. The ground unit can move and locate itself at the position of the axle in the work pit. A single operator is required to monitor the inspection process and check the results. Two pairs of phased-array probe holders are used to inspect both wheels simultaneously, significantly reducing vehicle downtime for light maintenance.
